Acta Amazonica is a multidisciplinary scientific free-access journal founded in 1971, by the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia (National Institute for Research in the Amazon) – INPA. The Journal publishes articles in Portuguese, Spanish, and English across a broad range of disciplines, including botany, agronomy, forest science, zoology, ecology, climatology, health and social science. Publications of Acta Amazonicaspecifically focus on Amazonia, thus contribution not directly related to the Amazonian context are considered out of scope of the Journal. The Editorial Board is comprised of an Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editors, highly qualified scientists of different institutions across Brazil or overseas.
Acta Amazonica is published quarterly (in March, June, September, and December). All articles that have been published by the Journal since its foundation in 1971 are available for free download at http://acta.inpa.gov.br/home.php?opcao=fasciculos. In addition, articles published since 2004 are also available at http://www.scielo.br/aa. The abbreviated title of the journal is Acta Amaz., which could be used in bibliographies and references.
